THERE was a reduced yarding in Hamilton on Friday with 70 cattle penned which mostly consisted of cows.
Only a small line-up of trade cattle were brought forward with most purchased by the re-stockers.
A handful of heavy heifers to the trade made to 380 cents per kilogram for over 600 kilograms.
Steers and heifers 350-400kg topped at 412c/kg and there was a very good run of cows presented with a lot of weight and condition for this time of year.
Prices held firm on the previous week’s improved rates with the best cows 600-700kg topping at 370c/kg and averaging 350c/kg and lighter conditioned cows made between 270-315c/kg.
Bulls were back 10 cents on the previous week’s rates with the very best bull topping at 330c/kg with most making from 310-320c/kg.
