HAMILTON agents penned 13,600 lambs and 5500 sheep at the weekly market where the quality was of a similar standard to the previous market over most categories of lamb and sheep on offer.
Not all the regular processors were present or active.
Most of the active demand was for better type lambs back to the paddock.
Despite the quality on offer, the market was very soft for most trade lambs over 20kg by some $10 to $20 per head.
However, lambs under 20kg remained firm.
Top shorn lambs sold to $186p/hd. Hoggets made to 130p/hd.
In the sheep market, most were softer by $10 to $15p/hd.
Light 12 to 16kg lambs made from $65 to $94p/hd and lambs 18 to 22kg sold from $96 to $142p/hd.
Medium lambs to the trade 22 to 26kg sold from $130 to $155p/hd with trade lambs mostly realising 540c to 620c/kg cwt.
Heavy crossbred ewes sold to $115p/hd with well covered Merino ewes to $72p/hd with shorn Merino wethers topping at $108p/hd.
The general run of mutton sold to realise between 310c to 390c/kg cwt.
