CLUB members were saddened on the recent passing of Wayne Hatherell better known as Guru, Wayne had been a great contributor to the club especially with this column ‘Bunker Shots’ and through radio and social media, he will certainly be missed.
Saturday Men’s and Women’s Par
John Warden was in fine form on Saturday finishing with a +4 to take out the Men’s A grade, runner-up was Ross Murray on a countback from Michael Holcombe both finishing with +3, with Wayne Riddle and Bevan Zimmermann close behind with +2.
B grade Mens saw Stephen Hehir back on the winners list with +3, from Stephen Asbury +2 and Michael Kelso 3rd with +1 on a countback from Rob Harris and Callem Mizzi.
Women’s winner was Robyn Holcombe with +3, from Margie Hadley +2, with Molly O’Brien and Helen Beattie both finishing with +1.
Nearest to pins were Michael Holcombe and Di Sevior on the sixth, Troy Elliott on the 13th, Stephen Hehir on the 16th, Noel Jennings and Enid Smith on the second shot on the ninth, Ian Harris on the second shot on the 15th, Michael Holcombe and Molly O’Brien.
Sunday Christmas Ambrose
68 players braved varying climatic conditions for the annual four-person Ambrose event which was generously sponsored by Helen & Mark Brian.
First place went to Troy Elliott, Zac Elliott, Andrew Henstridge and Steve Giles with nett 58 1/4, while second place was awarded to Mal Groves, Rob Cunningham, Peter Watson and Alan Huf with a 58 3/4 nett.
Steve Coates, Mark, Suzi and Molly O’Brien received third place with a nett of 59 5/8.
Nearest to pins were Steve Coates and Tania Cullinane on the third, John Raymond on the sixth, Troy Elliott and Jeanette Carmichael on the 13th, as well as Barry Raymond and Tracey Dark on the 16th.
Wednesday Women’s Stableford
Enid Smith continued her very good form winning with 38 points in a very close field, with four players finishing on 37 points, a countback gave runners-up to Sue Vickery, third was Molly O’Brien, fourth was Helen Holcombe and fifth was Gillian Jenkins.
