Five Hamilton based drivers are amongst the field that is set to do battle in the SSV Victorian Production Sedan Championship at Hamilton’s Western Speedway tomorrow.
And you can expect wall to wall action right from the start, with 27 competitors going all out to take home that coveted number one.
A field of 27 drivers and their crews from as far away as Queensland, Goulburn, Wahgunyah, Leeton and Corowa will converge in Hamilton, along with drivers and fans from Wangaratta, Portland, Horsham, Rosedale, Swan Hill, Alexandra and the Goulburn Valley for the title.
It will be the third time the titles have come to Hamilton, following the 2006 and 2017 editions, along with the 2019 national championships.
Some of the nominated drivers already have quite a history with this event, as Corowa’s Trevor Mills has three states titles to his name, while Steven Laidlaw has two.
The Hamilton contingent includes Benny Barker, who had been going very strong until damage from the wall at Wangaratta set him back for a few weeks.
Another local who has been burning the midnight oil has been Mark Riley, who had a few mechanical issues after his last meeting.
Colby Hammond in the little Mitsubishi has had a rugged start to his season, rolling the car at Portland, but is now back on track and raring to go, while Jye Irving has been notching up the placings in the Street Stock class recently and isn’t to be discounted.
Dehne Sparrow is never to be taken for granted, and will have his eyes on a hometown podium.
This will be a feast for the Holden brigade, with one lone Ford and one Mitsubishi amongst the Holden medley.
The program will also feature round six of the JSPA Junior Sedan Series and a good field has turned out in spite of the plethora of racing on offer at the moment.
The Top Star section has entries from Jack Randall, Bree Simpson, Tamika Simpson, Linken Paterson River Paterson, Jayden Bryant, Jayden Lock, Carter Metcalf, Tanner Barclay, Levi Blake, Blake Glynn, Miller Throckmorton, Kiarna Barton, Jessica O'Donnell, River Spitzbarth, Lachlan Robbins, Lachie Bull, and Hamilton’s Rylan Pech and Jacob Tinworth, while the New Stars include Zammy Noseda, Jake Bradley, Tayla Whatmore, Harry Dunn, Jasmin Bryant, and Rebecca Johnstone.
Last weekend was round five at Alexandra where Linken Patterson headed Jayden Bryant and Carter Metcalf to the flag, and the New Stars event was won by Jake Bradley from Will Fallon and Jasmine Bryant.
Rounding out the program at Hamilton tonight is the Standard Saloons with 12 drivers taking to the track including Ally Morrison, Joel McInnes, Robin Rundell, Tamara Rundell, Sam Rundell, Nathan Hutchins, Samantha Patterson, Samantha Dunn, Greg Hutchins, Ben Clements, Dylan Shelton and Jacob Head.
Gates open at 3pm and racing gets underway at 5pm.
