IT’S been a quiet stretch at Portland’s RSL Memorial Bowls Club since the conclusion of the Weekend and Midweek Pennants with the only event held recently being the men’s minor championship.

The contest was held on a glorious autumn day making for great bowling conditions and at the completion of the drawn games, the two contenders to make the final were Geoff Sturzaker and Simon Hein.

The prize went to Sturzaker, winning the event but congratulations to Hein for making it through to the main game as a finalist.

Upcoming events

Tomorrow will be the St Patrick’s Day Triples Tournament, lady skip and only one division one player.

On Sunday, the Ladies 21-Up play will take place. Across tomorrow and Sunday the club will also be holding the men’s triples.

Mixed pairs will take place across two days, March 26-27.

Classic bowls triples is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3.

The club’s presentation day is scheduled for April 10, with the Annual General Meeting taking place the day after (Monday, April 11). Also taking place next month is the Easter Pairs Tournament, (April 16-17).
