FIVE Hamilton locals will take to the soccer pitch this weekend to represent the South West Victoria Football Association.
The SWVFA are sending four teams to the Country Leagues Football Association (CLFA) Country Championships with representatives from the Hamilton Raiders selected in three teams to play in Geelong.
Harley Kearns and Zander Mibus will play in the Under-13 Mixed team, Isaac Shaw in the Under-16 Boys team, and Aisha Hendriks and Clara Dettling were selected in the Under-18 Girls side.
It is the first appearance in association colours for four of the players with Isaac Shaw getting a taste of representative action pre-COVID.
It is also the first time the association will send girls teams to the championships.
Dettling said it was exciting to take her game to the next level.
“Nerves are pretty high,” she said.
Hendriks has played plenty of representative sport and said she would be treating it like any other game.
“Once you get started, you forget about it and it is just a normal game,” she said.
The championships will run across three days with each team playing six games, followed by finals on Monday afternoon.
