ROUND three saw some wonderful darts thrown and a couple of close games.
First game witnessed Emu Creekers defeat Bushrangers, 6-3, in their first home game at the Digby Hotel.
The game saw the return of Riagan Devoy for the Creekers and he wasted no time finding his groove, pegging a season-high 127 in the first doubles.
Teammate, Allan Owens, didn’t want to be left out of the big pegs and pegged the next doubles on 87.
By the time the teams got to the singles, the Emu Creekers held a commanding 3-1 lead.
It got extended again when Owens won his singles with a superb average of 17.25.
Brendan Galloway continued his fine form this season, keeping the Bushrangers in it with pegs of 20 and four.
But it wasn’t enough with Devoy and Marianne Finn sealing the win with wins in their respective singles.
The second game of the night was a close one between Hurricanes and Chloe’s Crew, as Hurricanes emerged victorious, 5-4.
Hurricanes got off to a great start, winning three of the four doubles games.
Daniel Walkenhorst then extended the lead to 4-1 when he completed his singles with pegs of 16 and four.
The result was beyond doubt when Luke Walkenhorst continued his fantastic form, winning his singles to make it four of a possible five pegs for the night.
Chloe’s Crew did fight back with singles wins to Dean Merryweather and captain, Chloe Milton, before Merryweather also pegged the teams game to make the final score 5-4.
Chloe’s Crew can only wonder what if they had got an extra doubles win earlier in the night, and will look forward to when they meet again later in the season.
In the final game of the round, it was the two Cally teams playing each other with 3 Men & a Boy defeating Gamers, 5-4, in the teams game.
Things were going according to plan for the Gamers when they won the first two doubles with pegs to Troy Snell on 31 and Brendan Jackway on 76.
3 Men’s Dave Milich then stepped up to inspire his side with a peg of 60 in the next doubles, and when his son, Harley, pegged the last doubles on two, things were all tied up at 2-2 going into the singles.
Ross Ball then stepped up against an in-form Brendon Jackway, fighting back from a leg down to win his singles on 32 and 38 to give 3 men & a Boy the lead for the first time on the night.
Ben Leehane and Tate Snell then won their respective singles for Gamers to put them back in front.
With 3 Men & a Boy needing to win the last two games of the night, it was up to Dave Milich to play the in-form Troy Snell and despite losing the first leg, he fought back bravely to peg the last two legs on eight and 10.
This sent the game to a deciding teams game and despite Gamers throwing three tons, they just couldn’t seal the deal, as Mark Hibberd pegged 40 to give 3 Men & a Boy an unlikely victory.
