THE Hamilton Raiders Under-14 team has one more big game ahead, as it travels to Camperdown’s Leura Oval tomorrow to take on the Warrnambool Wolves in the South West Victoria Football Association (SWVFA) grand final.
The locals will go in as underdogs against the undefeated Wolves, but Raiders coach, Ralph Behrendt said he was confident his team would be in the mix at the final whistle.
“It is very exciting, the Under-14s have had a really good game all year and we finished second on the table,” he said.
“We will be up against some stiff opposition against the Wolves though, who finished undefeated.
“If they (Raiders) let their football do the talking, they will be right, they will go for broke.
“I reckon we will give the Wolves a good run.”
The Raiders will be missing one key player, but the rest of the squad will be available.
Behrendt is keeping the week as normal as possible, with the team eyeing off an attacking brand for the season decider.
“It will probably be an open and free-flowing game, we play a counter-attacking style,” he said.
“We have got some really good players across the pitch, but it has been a very even performance with a number of players starring across different games.
“We have had the golden boot for the season in Woody Perry, and also one of the other better goal scorers, Dylan McLachlan.
Camperdown will host the game with the Raiders having only played games at nearby Scott’s Creek, with tomorrow’s clash set to be a new venue for the club, as it pursues premiership glory.
“We haven’t played on the ground before, we usually play at Scott’s Creek,” Behrendt said.
“It has been shifted to Leura Oval, so we will see how it goes.”
