Grangeburn excited for new bowls season

WELCOME to the new bowls season.

Our club is looking fabulous with the installation of our new green and the painting of the front of the clubhouse, as well as fences and shelters on A green by our fantastic volunteers.

In spite of the weather, our 2-4-2 tournament was held on Sunday with teams from around our area competing.

Everybody played on the two rinks which was very challenging due to the difference in surfaces.

There were two teams on four wins, so the winners were decided on shots up with Alison East and Leah McCabe from Grangeburn in first place with Penshurst second and Balmoral third.

We had two teams compete in the Association Mixed Pairs with Nettie Ryan and Ruben Ross winning their section to put them through to the semi-finals.

They were then defeated by the composite team of Nettie Tinning (Balmoral) and Mick Swan (Heywood).

Julie Pollock and Stew Campbell had two wins in their section but did not proceed to the next round.

Grangeburn had four representatives in the Over 60s Women’s Singles at Macarthur on Monday.

Robyn Thomassen and Wendy Kosch won their games and will now play each other in the semi-finals next week, again at Macarthur.

Alison East and Irene Box were both defeated in their games.
