Rep cricket teams announced for junior country week

HAMILTON and District Junior Cricket Association (HDJCA) has announced its teams for the annual Country Week carnivals held in Horsham and Portland.

Trials for the Under-13 and Under-15 age groups were held at Monivae Cricket Hub last weekend, where the selectors were able to finalise the two teams for the Portland Under-13 carnival, and the Horsham Under-15 carnival, where only one team is entered from the HDJCA.

In seasons past, Hamilton has had up to three teams entered for the Portland carnival, but with the opening of the state border, Mount Gambier is returning to the competition this season, so Hamilton reverts to only two teams.

Hamilton Gold will be coached by Craig Templeton and Hamilton Green will be coached by David Hintum, as the HDJCA sends two equally strong teams to contest the Portland competition.

Templeton will undertake a course at Junction Oval this week to gain a higher coaching accreditation, while Hintum boasts vast knowledge garnered from years of representative cricket.

The Under-15 team will be coached by Colin Myers who is vastly experienced at representative level and will pass this knowledge along to his charges.

The Under-17 trials will be held at Monivae Cricket Hub over the next two Monday afternoons from 4.15pm-6pm.
