HAMILTON export, Melissa Tapper, was back on the global table tennis stage last week, contesting the World Para Table Tennis Championships in Andalucia, Spain.
Tapper opened the championships with a round of 16 clash against Japan’s Nozomi Nakamura in the Women’s Singles Class 10, winning three of four rubbers, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6, 11-9, on Thursday.
The local then progressed through to the quarter final stage, facing off against Turkey’s Merve Demir and losing.
Tapper got off to a winning start in the first rubber, 11-6, before Demir bounced back to sweep the next three, 14-12, 11-5, 11-1, to eliminate Tapper from the event.
Merve then progressed through to the semi-finals, where she was beaten 3-0 by Polish star, Natalia Partyka.
