NetSetGo exceeds expectations

THE Portland Netball Association celebrated the end of a successful NetSetGo program which began in October and finished on Monday night.

The program is one of many that has been introduced to the association across the past year and has proven a huge success as an entry level netball program.

Held every Monday night the program saw at least 50 participants take part with most nights requiring at least three courts to run the sessions.

Portland Netball Association president Jody Duckworth said the program exceeded expectations.

“I think one of the big season highlights has been the NetSetGo program,” he said.

“To start with there was a bit of hesitation from us and also from Netball Victoria as they thought there wouldn’t be enough regional interest.

“In the end we had three courts running each night with at least 50 kids on the court – Charley Samson coordinated all of that and did a great job.”

The NetSetGo program was joined by Netball Victoria representatives on Monday night as well as a barbecue to celebrate the successful season.

The other Portland Netball Association competitions including juniors, mixed netball and walking netball still have two more weeks of play.
