SPEEDWAY enthusiasts will get their fix when Hamilton’s Western Speedway roars back into action tonight, opening the season with the second round of the All Star 360 Sprintcar show, along with the second round of the state Standard Saloon Series.
It’s been a somewhat disappointing start to the season, having had to cancel the proposed practice day earlier in the month due to the weather, something that has affected many of the planned meetings around the state over the past few weeks.
However, the forecast looks promising for the weekend, and the Hamilton club is revving up for some action after the off season which saw the club members carrying out maintenance and improvements to the complex.
The All Star 360 Sprintcar Series headlines the program in round two of their series, making it a very quick turnaround from round one which was held at Horsham last weekend, where Todd Moule took the win ahead of Chris Temby and Michael Tancredi, with Chris Campbell and Kane Newcombe rounding out the top five.
The field tonight will include Todd Moule, Chris Temby, Chris Campbell, Kane Newcombe, Boyd Harris, Zac Ferrer, Mark Caruso, Corey Sandow, Angus Hollis, Jordan Abbott, Jeremy Kupsch, and Daniel Scott.
Couple of ex Junior Sedan drivers in the field, Hollis from Portland is a former Australian Junior Sedan Champion, and Moule who won the Victorian Junior Sedan Title, here at Hamilton in 2019.
The Standard Saloon Series event has a strong field, and includes Hannah Domberg, Mathew Domberg, Austin Chivers, Brad Hill, Greg Hutchins, Stephen Douglas, Adam Wharton, Patrick Walsh, Wayne Sheerman, Dylon Shelton, Dean Pederson, Lachie Chivers, Courtney Meakins, Aaron Marshall, Jacob Head and Bailey Sinclair.
Production Sedans and Super Rods have small fields at this stage and include local member Heath Riley in the Production Sedan field, long with Jamie Pumpa, Shaun Queale, Steven Aldridge and Mouldy Calderwood, while Jamie Ackland and Dane Court will be holding the Hamilton flag high against Adrian Rieck, Daniel Hookway, Allan Pitcher and Jamie Pitcher in the Super Rod events.
Completing the nominations, Jock Baker, Tom Baker, Katelyn Worthy, Bayley Wilson, Dylan Anton, Andrew Wilson, Mark Both, Bowen Donkers, Daryl Carpenter and Rod Hetherington should provide the Limited Sportsman fans with plenty of excitement in the Limited Sportsman class.
Racing will commence at 5pm with the public gates opening at 3pm.
Tickets available online www.westernspeedway or at the gate, and the latest information is on the Hamilton Speedway Facebook page.
