FIVE local riders have taken their home track experience over the South Australian border and up to Horsham – with great success.
Casterton Sporting Motorcycle Club’s Morgan McNichol, Axl and Syd O’Brien and Ayden Nolte, all came home from Horsham with some great tales to tell and some impressive hardware, all placing in events in their respective classes.
Held on a motocross track with plenty of jumps to test the riders, the Horsham track is more challenging than the Casterton club’s usual ride events, however McNichol’s Husqvarna TC250 took him over the line in second place in the Senior Expert Class.
An experienced rider and mentor for junior riders in the Casterton club, McNichol has also found success in the local Boss of Blueberry Hill Climb and is expected to feature again when the event returns to town, early to mid-2023.
Axl O’Brien took his Yamaha YZ123 through its paces in the Junior Lites Clubman Class and brought home first places, while brother Syd was equally impressive in the experts, bringing home the second-place trophy with his Yamaha YZ85 in the Mini Lites Big Wheel Expert Class.
Nolte rounded-out the prizes for the day for the Casterton team, taking out second place in the Mini Lites Small Wheel Clubman.
And Makayla Rees is set to be a future female star of the track in Casterton, taking third place when she headed to the most recent Mount Gambier competition.
In addition to taking out third place in the Girls Under 13 to Under 16 class on her KTM 85, Reed was also named Women’s Most Improved, over the event.
The Casterton club is now preparing for the Boss of Blueberry Hill Climb, which is expected to run in April, 2023, however dates are still being considered, with the club keen to avoid clashes with other major district events.
