Hamilton Bowling Club report

JACK WALDRON

HAPPY new year to all bowlers everywhere, may 2023 bring many resting touchers.

Bowls continued unabated over the holiday period with 40 players joining for a game of fours on Christmas Eve with Ken Hatherell, Bruce Marks, Norm Schwarz and Rob Henstridge winning the day.

New Years Eve bowls was dominated on A green by Bill Satchell and Robin Sullivan (Coleraine), and on B green Barry Dowling and Cliff Brinkmann were too good for the opposition.

On Thursday 32 bowlers filled the green for a game of pairs.

Richard Martin and Bruce Marks won the day from Dennis Gay and Gavin Wallis.

This is the busiest time of the year with the men’s singles championship knockout rounds to be played on Saturday and the finals of both men’s and women’s to be played out on Super Sunday.

The men’s pairs will be played the following weekend.

For the women members of the club, these dates need to go in your diary.

The 21 up on Wednesday and Friday February 15 and 17 and the 100 up Thursday and Friday February 23-24.

Good luck to Martin and Peter Graham who are trialling for the association pennant team to compete in the State Championships.

The trials are at the Hamilton club on next Wednesday.

Invitations are being sent out this week, inviting people of all ages to join the club’s Try Bowls program commencing on January 25 at 6pm.

Contact Jack Waldron or Richard Martin to enrol or any club member can pass the message on.
