CONGRATULATIONS to Molly O’Brien who has taken another step in her golfing career to win the Western District Golf Association Women’s Open 27-hole Championship, which was played at Terang. Other Hamilton golfer to do well at the Championships was Glen Dixon who won the Bronze 1 division (19-28 handicap).
Saturday
54 Men & 20 women participated in Saturday Par event, with the player of the day in the men’s division being Rob Fishburn who finished with +5, winning B grade, two shots ahead of Rob Vecchiet +3 with Cameron Mcdonald finishing third on +2.
A grade was won by John Warden with +1, with Peter Osmond taking runners up on a countback from Jason Chandler, both finishing square.
Balls down the line in A grade went to Mal Groves square, Chris Crane, Mark Russell & Jason McIntosh all -1.
B grade balls down the line went to Danny Franc, Nicholas O’Brien, Graham Trounce all square, and Tim Walkenhorst -1.
NTP’s 3rd – Greg Stevens, 6th Mal Groves, 13th Tyler Hardds, 16th Mark O’Brien, 2nd shot 9th John Hill, 2nd shot 15th Mal Groves.
In the women’s competition Molly O’Brien continued her great form to finish with +1, with Evelyn Coulson taking out runners up on a countback finishing square.
Balls down the line went to Debbie Milne square, Margie Hadley, Jane Bunge & Alma Fonda -1, Michelle Walkley and Deirdre Simkin -2.

Tuesday – Beginners & Emerging Golfers
There were 10 emerging golfers playing in a 9-hole stableford event and the winner was Joanna Austin with 31pts. Runner’s up went to Sarah Laidlaw 20pts, and 3rd place was Julie Templeton on 17pts.
The Beginners group played a four-person ambrose event over 4 holes and both groups came in with 19pts.
Wednesday Women’s competition
There was 64 women playing in a 4BBB competition, with a donation from the day going to Western District Health Service. The best score of the day went to Kerryn Price and Debbie Milne who finished with 43pts. Runner’s up was Nola Beks and Venita Mibus 40pts.
Balls down the line went to Fran McMeel & Tania Cullinane, Cindy McLeish & Sue Walter, Judy Thornton & Val Linke, Jeanette Carmichael & Lesley Toyer, Sally Warburton & Chantal Butcher all finishing with 39pts.
