OPENING day for the 2023 season last Saturday was a day out for Bruce Taylor, who had his second hole in one since joining the club.
This time the ace was on the fifth hole, but alas, it wasn’t enough to get his team on the winner’s podium in the three-person ambrose event.
Frances O’Brien in her first game at Parklands teamed up with club stalwarts, Vincent Obrien and Barry Oldaker, to win the event with a nett score of 61.3.
Narrow runners-up were Dale Grambeau, James Brown and Katelyn Morey with 62, from Allan, Kelly and Laura Hitchcock on 63.
Nearest the pins were won by Jeff Donovan on the second, Terry Rhook on the third, Taylor on the fifth, James Brown on the eighth and 13th, and Allan Hitchcock on the 11th.
The longest putt on the first went to David Rendell, Frances O’Brien on the 16th, Marie Cook on the 17th and Sue Irvin saluted on the 18th.
The longest, straightest drive on the ninth went to Grambeau, while Morey collected the birdies and ferrets.
