THE Portland Motocross Club held the first round of their grass track series on Saturday with a solid turnout at the Mount Richmond track.
With plenty of work going into the track the conditions were difficult to navigate but there was still some exciting racing on show.
President Leigh Watt said it was a great effort from the club and all participants who turned up.
“It was really good in the end, we had quite a few numbers with people travelling from all over Victoria and South Australia,” he said.
“We got the 20-odd ml of rain on the Friday night and morning so that made conditions very interesting in the morning. What was a pristine track ended up being pretty muddy but those that persisted got rewarded.”
“There were riders from anywhere between five-years-old up to the veterans class which is 40-50-year-olds so it’s a great day where there were classes for everyone to ride in.
“The grass track was a bit easier to ride and less technical than other motocross tracks so it’s a great one for all levels.”
Two of the youngest members were awarded for their efforts with Mia Stanley winning the ‘never give up’ award and Max Limburg who earned the ‘little charger’ award.
The next grass track series round will be Dwayne’s Day in the Dirt which is expected to be held in August or September.
