Division two

THERE was one very close game, some swapping of rungs in the middle order of the ladder and the two north westerners, depending on where you live, keep top and second spots.

Casterton travelled down to Portland to play on the cliff top and play they did, and so did Portland right to the last bowl.

Val Baker took on Berniece Sullivan and won 22-19, while Maree Matters got a 12 but Teresa Sealey put together 17 and the win went to the visitor by two shots, ending in a Portland loss, 34-36.

Memorial played Macarthur and got a result via one rink.

Jan Hamblin 18 to Bev Bourke 19, and the sealer came when Jan DeZoete defeated Carol Uebergang, 23-13.

Final totals settled on Memorial 41 to Macarthur 32, which led the two teams swapping ladder positions.

Next cab off the rank was Penshurst, which travelled to Grangeburn, and grabbed another eight-shot win.

This time to Grangeburn and scores were Wendy Kosch 21 to Ann Rentsch 19, and Raylene Roberts 19 to Brenda Uebergang 13, ending at 40-32 and the two sides almost swap rungs - a one-shit difference.

The final game of the round was between Coleraine at home and Hamilton the visitors.

Bev Fry had the highest team score for division two with 27 to Glenda Hawker 10.

Lesley Beaton not far behind with 25 to Fay Gebert 14, hence 52-24 reported to the recorder.
