Rentschs return to the Bombers

PENSHURST is set for a big boost with Josh Rentsch headlining the recruits ahead of the Bombers’ 2024 Mininera and District Football League campaign.

Josh Rentsch joins Nathan Rentsch in the red and black after returning from SANFL side, Sturt, and Hampden side, Koroit, respectively.

Josh returns to a club he spent his juniors at, before his career took him to the Greater Western Victoria Rebels and the SANFL in the past four years.

After two years at the Double Blues, Josh comes back and will also be an assistant coach alongside senior coach, Jayden Watson, and the key forward is excited about being back home.

“I probably thought about it from the middle to the end of this year, I was probably getting a bit homesick and I was keen to come back and play with some close family and friends,” he said.

“There was a few here and there, but I was attracted to Penshurst.

“A big part of coming back to Penshurst was being around the friends and family, I have strong connections here.

“I am just glad the cards fell that way.”

Suiting up for the Bombers and helping to drive the club back to premiership success was also enticing for the 2021 Morrish Medallist.

“I am very excited to have a bit of an impact, keen to work with Watto and the new players we are bringing in,” he said.

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves, I am keen to work with everyone and I think we have a very young and promising side with some big recruits.

“I was very blessed to go to Adelaide and have that opportunity, I was probably losing a little bit of enjoyment out of it though.”

“Sturt has been very good to me and I feel very blessed to come home.”

Josh and Nathan Rentsch are joined by other key recruits, Ian Milera and Elijah Satala from Adelaide, along with Geelong region footballers, Luke Searle and Jaykeb Paley.
