IN a magnificent day for pennant the Balmoral side had the highest score of the round.

Mick Swan 14 to Tony Hogan 21, Leonie Buchanan 18 lost to Lindsay Gruar 28, and Lionel Pevitt 16 to Peter Cottier 19.
The win kept the top spot in Portland’s name and the loss let Balmoral get within one point of being equal with Heywood.
Memorial had the Penshurst side arrive by bus so as to not crowd the carpark.
Things went very well for the home side, even though the bulk of the encouragement was by Penshurst players for their mates.
Clayton Holcombe defeated David Cook who was filling in for Phil Allen by a slender margin of three, but that is where the slender finished.
Kelvin Wiffen had a second 29 for the round and Torque Rentsch was only allowed to screw out 12.

Memorial kept second and Penshurst retained the third ladder rung.

Division four
THIS division had several changes to the ladder and a one-shot win, which apart from the draw was the closest margin of all games.
Hamilton Gold moved to the top of the ladder after a solid win playing at Memorial.
The green was great, the fun was great, and the next-door game was entertaining; more people should play bowls.
Rob Hamblin played wrong Bias Barry and the home team lost, 23 to 26, while Jan Hamblin came up against Jimmy Nichol and the scores finished at 8-31, ending proceedings at 31-57 and sees Gold move to the top of the ladder.
Grangeburn with 34 kept Portland to 33, which also made the above movement possible.
Peter Moore 20 to Les Baker 17, and Phil Forsyth with 14 to Gary Milich 16, giving Portland two points and equalled Gold on 70.
There is only one-shot difference in the second column of the ladder figures.
