HAMILTON Squash Club recently had its end of season presentation night with a spread of players claiming awards for the winter/spring campaign.
The grand final saw Gorry face Carpenter and go on to win, 220-12-4 to 161-4-1, thanks to Damien Goodman 29-0 lt Alex Kerr 45-3, Isaiah Vasiliades 54-3 d Adam Buckley 45-1, Dan Howe 45-3 d Will Mackellar 28-0, Gabe Fitzpatrick 47-3 d Tom Barras 31-0, and Rhonda Armour 45-3 d Hunter Lynch 12-0.
Gorry held top spot on the ladder from round three and it was always going to be a tough challenge for Carpenter to take them on in the final.
Carpenter gave it their all but Gorry just too strong a team.
Kerr also claimed the Open club championship ahead of runner-up, Jamie Robertson, while the B grade honour went to Fowler’s Dan Dean, who defeated Nic Hendriks in the final.
The C grade championship was won by Raso’s Andrew Ball, with Mackellar finishing runner-up.
Andrew Ball collected the Red Cheeks Award with 409, ahead of runner-up, John Geddes, with 328.
Dean collected the George Award, while the Gump Award was won by Goodman with 1293 points.
Line winners included Carpenter’s Hunter Lynch as number five with 8/12 ahead of Chris Smith 5/12, while number four honours went to Gorry’s Gabe Fitzpatrick with 9/12, just ahead of Aidan Lomas with 8/12.
Number three saw Catley’s Brad Kirkwood salute with an almost perfect 11/12 record, while Dan Howe’s 8/12 saw him finish runner-up.
Heinric Burmeister was relegated to second on games won, edged out by Isaiah Vasiliades, after both finished with 8/12, while the Gorry player won 27 games to 26 to claim the top prize.
Kerr won a perfect 12/12 to win ahead of runner-up, Jamie Robertson, who finished with 7/12.
