THE warmer weather has not curtailed continued improvements to our course, thanks to our dedicated band of volunteers.
The reversal of holes seven and eight have continued, and both now have tee blocks and scrapes with water articulation in place and are currently being played by members.
These new holes are proving challenging to the golfing brain that was so used to going the other way.
Saturday
ON a perfect day for golf, a good field contested a Canadian foursomes event.
The leaderboard was tightly contested with Heather and John Wilkinson winning on the day with a nett 71 ¼ from Mary McCallum and Gaye Goggin on 71 ¾, on a countback from Bruce Taylor and Alex Walter.
Nearest the pins went to Barry Oldaker on the second, Sue Irvin on the fifth, George Donaldson on the seventh, Vince O’Brien on the 11th, Goggin on the 13th and Steve Nattrass on the 15th.
John Wilkinson sunk the longest putt on the first, Nattrass on the 16th, Sue Irvin on the 17th and McCallum on the 18th.
The longest straightest drive on the ninth went to McCallum, while birdies and ferrets went to O’Brien.
Friday
THE stroke event was played over the outward nine, again with a reasonable number of members.
The winning score of the day went to David Rendell with a nett 34.5 from Alex Walter on 35 and Les Pye returning a 35.5 nett.
Rendell was nearest the pin on the second, Walter on the fifth and Oldaker on the seventh.
Walter sunk the longest putt on the first, while birdies and ferrets went to Peter Irvin.
Wednesday
THE Parklands Golf Club’s heat policy was in place for the day, meaning hit off was at 8.30am.
Due to lack of numbers, there was no competition held.
Tuesday
WITH more pleasant conditions prevailing early in the day, an 18-hole stableford event was played.
Having a day out with a wonderful 40 points was McCallum, who won from Goggin on 38 and Heather Wilkinson on 33.
Goggin was nearest the pin on holes five and 13, Heather Wilkinson on the seventh and Sue Irvin on the 15th.
Wilkinson holed out the longest putts on the first and 17th, with Gina Kelly putting truly on the 18th.
McCallum won birdies and ferrets and Irvin had the longest straightest drive on the ninth.
