THE president’s handicap at the weekend’s championship was dominated by Rob Baker, who won the event for the second time.

Baker defeated Russell Sherren (his first win is not far away) in one semi-final, and the ageless Jimmy Nichol defeated the evergreen John Crane in the other.

In the final, Nichol got off to a great start, but Baker bowled with relentless acrruacy and wore him down, going on to win the event.

Baker was at it again at Thursday’s social bowls, winning the day with help from Don Walter and Cate Levett.

Next best was John Forsyth’s team of Gavin Wallis and Ian Johnson.

Forty-two players took part, scoring with five points ofr the closest to kitty then three and two points.

Twenty-four players enjoyed social bowls on Saturday, with the incomparable Kay Satchell leading her team of Kevin Buck and John Beattie (he’s getting better each week) to victory, from Doreen Edwads’ team of Adrian Smith and now bowler, John Phillips.
