Gold for Tapper at Taipei Para Open

FRESH off qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, Melissa Tapper has added another medal to her trophy cabinet winning the gold medal at the ITTF Taipei Para Open a couple of weeks ago.

The competition was essentially a warm up for Tapper who will have her real competition at the Paris Olympics when action kicks off later next month.

Hamilton’s golden girl is ranked number five in the world for her section according to the recent June ITTF rankings.

The former local cruised through the tournament in Class 9/10 women’s singles just dropping two sets across her four winning matches.

She defeated Lin Tzu Yu in the final 3-0 with a competitive last set going the way of Tapper 12-10 to get gold.

The focus and preparation will now shift to the Australian National Titles in Mandurah in a couple of weeks before she travels to France.

Tapper’s third Olympic campaign will begin on July 26.
