Jumping success

WHILE plenty of eyes were locked on the racing at Flemington on Tuesday, the Hamilton Pony Club hosted a showjumping event at Yulecart.

Plenty of locals were in action, with Maddie Mayne topping the A grade standings on Ruby Tuesday for Macarthur Pony Club.

B grade honours went to Hamilton Pony Club’s Matilda Mason on Deceptive, with Mason backing up her effort to finish runner-up with Arthuras.

It was an out of towner who topped C grade, with Mount Gambier’s MacKenzie Richards-Fennell and Showtym Shy winning ahead of runner-up, Finley Hiscock, and his horse Kulwin.

Local rider, Millie Mould combined with Floss to claim the D grade top honour ahead of Milly King and Midnight Bandit from Heywood

Emu Creek Pony Club dominated E grade, with three of the top four from the Terang-based club, with Taleah Murfett and Gracie saluting ahead of Macarthur’s Niamh McGoldrick and Garnet Bram.

F grade was won by Hamilton’s Ruby Packman and Wyann Swiss Iceman, finishing ahead of runner-up, McGoldrick, who combined with Knockroe Art.

Hamilton Pony Club district commissioner, Sally Mason said it was a good turnout on the day.

“Our inaugural event was well attended with 50 horse and rider combinations entered,” she said.

In addition, the winner of our Best Cup Day Hat was Hamilton’s Katrina McPherson of Hamilton who won a $100 voucher.

The Best Presented Hamilton Pony Club Combination was won by Charli Williams and her horse Qual-Kryst Kalibra.

Best Performed Racing Victoria Off the Track Thoroughbred was Arthuras, ridden by Mason, which was presented by Hamilton Pony Club president, Natalia Mirtschin.

The final award of the day was the Best Performed Open Hero Harness Racing Victoria Standardbred, which was Molly, ridden by Liam Bothman, and presented by Monivae Park Standardbreds local driver and trainer, Stacey Barker.
