THE usual Tuesday Midweek Pennant games were played a day later this week, due to Melbourne Cup Day festivities.
Division 1
HAMILTON dominated its Far Western Bowls Association Division 1 clash against Portland, winning 58-41 to bring maximum points back home from down south on Wednesday.
Peter Graham had the biggest win, accounting for Lindsay Gruar, 22-11, while Elma Astbury rolled up 20 to Kerrie Alexander’s 17, and Norm Pech made it a clean sweet with a 16-13 result against Heather Burgess.
Grangeburn hosted ladder leader, Memorial, and struggled to match the visitors, going down 63-48.
Graeme Solly got the visitors off to a winning start with a 26-16 result against Leah McCabe, before Donald Wallis rolled up 18 to win by five against Ken Prewett.
Chris Elford and Owen Ross played out a 19-19 draw, to see Grangeburn pinch a point from the round five match-up.
Balmoral had a bye and collected 16 points and 15 shots.
Division 2
HAMILTON faced off against ladder leader, Coleraine, away from home and collected 12 of 14 points on offer after winning, 42-37.
Robyn Donovan accounted for Lesley Beaton, 26-18, while Jim Nichol went down to Beverley Fry, 16-19, to give Coleraine two points.
Grangeburn Blue claimed club bragging rights against Grangeburn Red, collecting maximum points with a 48-33 result.
Beverley Casey rolled up 22 shots to 19 against Lesley Stewart, while Wendy Colcott accounted for Rosemary Spencer, 26-14.
Macarthur travelled to Casterton and returned with 12 points after a 43-30 victory.
Beverley Bourke’s 27-11 win against Teresa Sealey was critical to the overrule result, with Carol Uebergang going down to Bernice Sullivan, 16-19, to give the home side two points.
Memorial travelled across town to face Portland and returned empty handed following a 39-47 loss.
Ian Benbow got the visitors off to a winning start with a 26-21 result, before Keneth Place sealed the victory with a 21-18 result against Robert Hamblin.
Penshurst had the week off and collected 13 points and 10 shots.
Division 3
MACARTHUR remains on top of the ladder after Grangeburn was forced to forfeit its clash, gifting the ladder leaders all 14 points, along with 15 shots.
Heywood hosted Casterton and swept the scores, collecting maximum points with a 54-34 victory.
Aneel Chaudhry rolled up 30 to Heather Rees’ 20, while Barbara Moore managed 24 against Helen Lucas’ 14.
Hamilton travelled south to take on Portland and collected a 39-35 victory and the resulting 12 points.
Glenda Porter rolled up 21 to Myra Bourke’s 14, while Cliff Brinkmann went down to Naomi Pye, 21-18, to give the home side two points.
Memorial claimed a 35-31 victory against Dartmoor to finish the round, and restricting the visitors to just two points from the match-up.
Rob Liddle was the key to the overall win, rolling up 24 to Elaine Jones’ 10, while Ian Brown gave Dartmoor something to celebrate with a 21-11 result against Beverly Smith.
