HAMILTON Karting Club will host the final round of the 2024 Victorian Country Series at its track at Buckley Swamp this weekend, as 155 competitors converge on the town seeking to add their names to the honour board as winners across the various classes.
Karting is the first stop on the pathway to higher driving events with current V8 Supercar drivers and Formular1 drivers getting their starts in motorsport via Karting.
There are six rounds of competition within the Victorian Country Series with events staged in Cobden, Ballarat, Portland, Wimmera, Warrnambool, and lastly Hamilton.
Competitors are allowed to discard their worst performance and submit the best five results to determine the overall champion in each class for the season.
Hamilton Karting Club president, Matt Crane said numbers were slightly down, but the quality was still there.
“Entries are down slightly on last year, mainly due to the cost-of-living crisis, but we have the best Kart drivers in the state coming and the racing will be first class all weekend,” he said.
Local drivers to keep an eye on this weekend are Andrew Stubbs and Ron Taylor, who both will line up on the Victorian Combined Masters grid.
Entry to the event is free with full catering provided and practice starts on Friday from noon, with qualifying and racing in all classes happening on Saturday and Sunday from 8am.
