Crocodiles snap losing streak

THE Hamilton Basketball Association season continued this week with round two games.

Crocodiles opened Tuesday night’s games with a three-point victory against the Pure Envy Coasters.

The Coasters made Crocodiles earn the win, staying within striking distance through the clash with the game going down to the wire, as Crocodiles were ahead when it counted most to eventually win, 32-29.

Clare McKay impressed throughout the round two battle, shooting a game-high 14 points to help her team to victory.

Masey Knight chipped in with 11 points in support for the winners.

Emma Khawli was the Coasters’ top-scorer, putting up 13 points, while Natasha Donaldson was the next best with six.

Monivae d. Minders Blue

MONIVAE continues its winning start to the season, defeating Minders Blue by 12 -points, collecting a second consecutive win to open the season.

Blue struggled to match Monivae across the court, missing scoring chances and allowing easy transitions out of defence.

The spread of scoring for Monivae was noticeable, as Lilly Killen and Heidi Bast each scored eight points, while Abbey Hill contributed six in the 29-17 win.

Maddison Cotton was Minders Blue’s top-scorer with six points, while Tahlia Wormald added four points.

Tigers d. Sportscene Minders

IT was a thrilling match to finish the round two schedule with Tigers holding on to record a five-point win against Sportscene Minders.

Both teams had their fair share of scoring chances throughout, with Tigers eventually winning the high-scoring match, 33-28.

Only two of the nine Tigers players failed to register a score, giving the team plenty of options in offence.

Avreet Kaur put up 12 points for the game, while Ella Sevior contributed eight points to ensure their team held on in the final minutes.

Mia McGrath did her best to keep Minders within reach, creating turnovers and shooting a team-high 10 points, while Jedah Huf finished with nine points.

Men

Minders White d. Tigers

IT wasn’t such a positive result for the men’s division one Tigers team, losing to Minders White by 11 points on Wednesday.

It was Joshua Miller and Angus Noske who led the way for the winners, combined for 29 points to help their team to a 42-31 victory.

Miller top-scored with 16 points, while Noske added 13 and Kieran Neeson put up eight points.

Tigers’ scoring ability wasn’t as strong with Lachie Murphy’s nine points the standout, while Rhys Malseed did his best to give support, shooting seven points in the round two loss.

Barber Boys d. St Mary’s Black

BARBER Boys had a comfortable night on the court, holding St Mary’s Black at bay to claim a 16-point win at the final buzzer.

Black struggled from early in the contest and was unable to match the skill and intensity of Barber Boys, missing some easy scoring chances at different times, which allowed the deficit to grow.

Nate Krause continued his strong shooting form, finding the bucket regularly from long-range, putting up eight three-pointers to finish the game with 25 points and lead his team to a 48-32 victory.

Dean Le Roy was next best for Barber Boys with seven points, while Jack Jennings offered plenty for Black, putting up 15 points.

St Mary’s Orange d. Monivae Warriors

ST Mary’s Orange put up the biggest score of the round to thump Monivae Warriors by 25 points.

Four Orange players hit double figures, as the spread was too much for the Warriors to combat across the court.

Monivae struggled to keep up with the scoring rate, falling behind and was unable to get the game back on its terms, to lose, 39-64.

Charlie Alexander put up a game-high 23 points for St Mary’s, while Deacon White (15) and Ethan Knight (14) also impressed in offence.

Monivae’s highest scorer was Isaiah Mulley with eight points.

Minders Blue d. College Barking Owls

IT was a team effort which helped Minders Blue account for the Barking Owls by 12 points to conclude the round two games.

Only one player went scoreless, as Todd Hatherell’s eight points topped Blue’s scoring, while Aaron Glare and Jake Donehue put up six points each to keep College at bay at the final buzzer.

Haavard Christie did his best to reel in the deficit, finishing with seven points for the Barking Owls, while Edward Koch put up six points.
