AT long last the eagerly awaited Country Basketball League 2021-22 fixture has been released and Portland’s two senior teams have a tip-off date, November 27.
Seven teams will occupy the CBL’s South West Conference for the upcoming summer – Portland, Mount Gambier, Warrnambool, Surfcoast, Terang, Horsham and Colac.
Colac are fielding a men’s team but not a women’s team, meaning there are seven teams in the men’s division and just six in the women’s division.
Round one is a back-to-back affair for both Coasters’ teams, playing Mount Gambier Lakers on Saturday evening and Warrnambool Mermaids on Sunday afternoon.
Both games will be held at the Portland Basketball Stadium.
Three rounds of play will be completed for the Coasters before the holiday break and with the bye in round four, both teams are facing a sizable month-long break in the middle of the season.
The final round of the home and away campaign will take place on January 29.
Portland’s women’s team is coached by Ellen Zeunert this summer, while Rebel Noter is continuing as coach of the men’s team.
