Interrupted week for basketballers

IT was a week like no other in the Hamilton Basketball Association with more forfeits than games played earlier in the week.

Only one top division game went ahead this week with all games from Wednesday onwards abandoned, due to the current COVID outbreak.

In the one division 1-2 women’s game that did get played, it was a comfortable nine-point win to Tigers against Monivae.

It was an even spread from the winners, with every player contributing to the score at different times, as Tigers eventually claimed a 32-23 victory.

Zoe van Kalken-Flack top-scored for the winners with nine points, while Isabelle Johnson chipped in with eight.

Maddison Rhook, Lilly Killen and Maggie Doyle all put up six points for Monivae.

In the other two games, Pure Envy Coasters forfeited to St Mary’s, while Minders Blue got the points against the Crocodiles, who were also forced to forfeit the round the game.

Women’s division three – Tigers Orange d. Minders White via forfeit; Tigers Black d. Baimbridge Bandicoots via forfeit.

Women’s division four – College Sooty Owls 40 (Chloe Frost, Chantal Butcher 14) d. Minders Blue 14 (Crystal Ferguson 6); Minders White d. St Mary’s via forfeit; Minders d. Storm via forfeit.
