Ladder leaders too strong for Saints

IT was yet another win for Sportscene Minders, this time accounting for St Mary’s by 31 points in Women’s Division 1-2 action on Tuesday night.

Minders dominated the round eight contest from the outset, as the Saints were unable to match the efficiency in offience.

Paige Kissel and Tahlia Ross proved to be a handful, putting up 16 and 19 points respectively to ensure the undefeated ladder leaders continued on their winning ways, 56-25.

Ross was particularly damaging from long range, putting up three maximums, while Caitlin Urquhart also chipped in with 10 points for Minders.

Jenna Loats was a lone hand for St Mary’s, finishing with nine points in a tough outing for the team.

Monivae Dolphins d. Minders Blue

MONIVAE inflicted yet another loss on Minders Blue, winning by seven points.

Minders Blue went into the game without a win and sitting bottom of the ladder but showed glimpses of good play against the fifth-placed Dolphins.

Momentum swung between both teams, as Monivae eventually moved clear and went on to win, 30-23.

Maddison Rhook put up a game-high 12 points for the winners, while Abbey Hill added 10 points in support.

Maddison Cotten was the main threat at the other end of the court, scoring 10 points for Blue.

The win keeps the Dolphins in finals contention, equal on points with fourth-placed St Mary’s Black.

Tigers d. St Mary’s Black

TIGERS retained second place on the ladder with a 14-point win against St Mary’s Black in the late game.

Black struggled to keep up with Tigers’ intensity, as they fell behind on the scoreboard and never recovered.

Karoraina Karatau-Keightley and Isabelle Johnson proved too much to handle in offence, finishing the game with 15 and 10 points respectively, guiding their team to a 39-25 victory.

Saskia Gould topped the scoring for Black, putting up eight points, while Holly Rook finished the round eight contest with seven points.

With teams now in the second half of the season, finals will be on the radar and teams will be pushing hard in the final weeks to cement a top four spot.

Minders White d. Monivae Warriors

IT was a one-sided contest when Minders White easily accounted for the Warriors by 47 points.
