Saints edge out White to claim minor premiership

Grace Cleaver led from the front for St Mary’s, putting up 19 points to lead her team to a comfortable victory in the penultimate round of the regular season.

The youngster was well supported by Clare Crawford, who finished the round 14 game with 16 points to see the Saints home, 50-17.

Lily Raymond and Stella Grinham topped White’s scoring efforts with four points each in the loss, which leaves the team sitting in bottom spot.

St Mary’s Black d Minders Blue

IT was a much tighter contest in the second game, with just two points separating the two teams at the final buzzer.

Charlize Cooper took the responsibility on herself, with the youngster leading the way for the Black team with 13 points.

Ruby Cleaver added eight points to help Black to a 29-27 victory.

Maddison Cotten once again stood stall for Minders Blue, finishing the round 14 game with 10 points, while Amy Pepper chipped in with eight points in the loss

Barber Babes d Tigers

BARBER Babes has jumped up into third position on the ladder after they defeated Tigers by 13 points in the late game.

It was a third against fourth match-up with Tigers having the most to lose with a loss, and was unable to match the output from Barber Babes across the court.

Isabelle Johnson and Danielle Vankalken both had impressive outings, putting up 16 and 15 points respectively to guide Barber Babes to a 45-32 win and move them above Tigers on the ladders with one round remaining before finals.

Molly O’Brien finished the game with 12 points, while Ella Sevior put up 10 points in support for Tigers.

Men’s Division 1

Minders White d Barber Boys

IT was yet another upset to kick off the Men’s Division 1 round, with Minders White knocking off the ladder leaders by one points in the early game on Wednesday night.

It was a see-sawing contest throughout, with the final minutes offering both teams chances to ensure victory, with White holding on to win, 50-49.

Josh Miller (14 points), Paul Churchill (13 points) and Angus Hayden-Simpson (11 points) all hit double figures for White, spreading the scoring load across the team.

Barber Boys relied on Jakob Greaves, who finished with 16 points, to lead the team’s offence, while Joel Le Roy put up 13 points in support.

Barber Boys remain in top spot despite the loss, with White finishing the round two points clear in second.

St Mary’s Black dw St Mary’s Orange

IT was an even closer contest in the late game with the two St Mary’s teams battling out a draw to finish the round.

Both teams spread the load evenly with no player across either team missing out on getting on the scoreboard during the 42-42 draw.

Black’s effort was led by 14 points from Edward Koch, while Charlie Field added 11 as the other player to hit double figures.

Orange was in the contest, thanks to 12 points from Charlie Alexander.

Split points means Black sits fourth, one point behind Orange in third.
