THE Hamilton Hurricanes will once again be in a familiar environment, as the side hosts Ararat in Country Basketball League (CBL) action tonight.
The Hurricanes are going into the round five clash winless, while the Redbacks have won two games, and will be hoping to break the drought with a strong performance.
Josh Miller has been the standout with his offence keeping Hamilton’s confidence high, and if the team can produce its best basketball for a full game, then the Redbacks will have their work cut out for them.
Morgan Newns’ inclusion last week adds some size to the Hurricanes squad, along with captain, Erik Valka, who will need to grab the loose balls and generate plenty of drive during counter attacks.
Another strong crowd is expected, in the last of a run of five home games to start the season.
It is not just the senior team in action this weekend though, with the Hamilton Basketball Association (HBA) sending three teams to the Geelong junior tournament, which doubles as a Victorian Junior Basketball League grading tournament.
The HBA’s Under-16A Boys, Under-14A Girls and Under-12B Boys teams will be in action, also giving the sides a chance to face teams from other associations that don’t compete in the usual junior squad tournaments.
