Hurricanes set for last home game

THE Hamilton Hurricanes return to the court tomorrow in search of their second win when they host Colac in round nine Country Basketball League (CBL) action.

The Hurricanes sit in bottom spot, just one win behind Colac, and the home side will be hoping for a four-quarter performance.

Hamilton’s only win to date came at home – against Ararat – and has shown its best is capable of matching the other teams, but lapses in concentration have proved costly each game, something co-coaches, Dean Le Roy and Scott Miller, will be desperate to rectify.

With another strong squad available, the Hurricanes will be hoping for a more balanced scoring effort, with Josh Miller carrying much of the load.

Miller sits seventh in the competition for points scored with 148 points, and has hit the fifth most threes, while Sam Brewer is the next best scorer for Hamilton with 66 points.

The locals aren’t expecting Jackson Talbot back from injury until after Christmas, but the likes of Bailey Cooper offer some youth and enthusiasm with the group, coming off a 12-point haul against Mount Gambier last weekend.

Jakob Greaves has also stepped up in recent weeks and has played important roles and will again be a focal point for the home side at HILAC.

It is also set to be Hamilton’s last home game for the season, with a few double header road trips scheduled for after Christmas.

The game is scheduled to start at 1pm.
