THE Hamilton Hurricanes will wrap up their Country Basketball League (CBL) season tonight when they travel to Ararat Fitness and Leisure Centre to take on the Redbacks.
The clash involved the bottom two teams, and the locals will fancy their chances of grabbing a second win of the season after the Hurricanes got the better of Ararat in round five at HILAC.
Hurricanes co-coach, Dean Le Roy said the team would be missing some players who played in the earlier season clash but backed the team to remain competitive.
“Commitment has sort of died off, it is always going to towards the season which makes it a bit harder,” he said.
“We don’t really have a heap of people to pick from, we still have a strong side, but it isn’t as strong as earlier in the season.”
The Hurricanes will be without Sam Brewer and Matt Parker, with Erik Valka also a chance to miss the season-ending clash.
Morale remains high within the group and Le Roy said another win would help set up the group for the off-season and the 2024-25 campaign.
“At training it has been good, the younger ones have really stepped up with their commitment and the ones that know they don’t have a guaranteed spot, they’re the ones putting in the effort,” he said.
“If we could get a win, it would be great for the boys to finish on a high, but as long as we go out and have fun and give 100 per cent, we have a group who will get as much out of that.”
Tip-off is at 7pm.
The Hurricanes juniors will be in action this weekend with the annual Bendigo Junior Classic getting underway yesterday and finishing tomorrow.
