ST Mary’s Black continues to dominate the Hamilton Basketball Association Women’s Division 1 season, easily dispatching Tigers by 33 points in the late game on Tuesday night.
Black dominated the game from the outset, restricting Tigers to two points in the first five minutes, with the team going into half time with just seven points on the scoreboard.
At the other end, Black put up 26 points and kept rolling in the second half to record a 53-20 victory.
Tahlia Ross finished with a team-high 10 points for Tigers, while Charlize Cooper and Saskia Gould each put up 17 points for the winners.
St Mary’s White d St Mary’s Orange
IT was a Saintly battle in the early game, as White held off Orange with a thrilling two-point win.
It was a game of two halves, with the momentum swings proving pivotal to the result.
Orange burst out of the blocks quickly and controlled the contest in the first half to go into the main break leading by seven points.
After the break, it was White which grabbed the ascendency, closing the gap on the scoreboard, grabbing the lead with four minutes to play.
Orange then responded and drew level, but it was Zoe Vankalken-Flack who scored the winning points to give White a 30-28 victory.
Danielle Tooley top-scored for White with 16 points, while Stella Grinham put up 14 points for Orange.
Men’s Division 1
St Mary’s Orange d GT Storm
ST Mary’s Orange remains a game clear in top spot after holding off GT Storm by five points in Wednesday night’s early game.
GT Storm have put in strong performances in recent weeks, and the third-placed side made the ladder leaders work hard for the win
Storm got out to an early lead and went into half time ahead by five points, but Orange rallied in the second half to overhaul the deficit and go on to win, 36-31.
Wynn Rentsch put up a game-high 15 points for Storm, while Charlie Field finished with 11 points for Orange.
Minders d St Mary’s Black
IT was a one-sided contest in the late game, as Minders recorded a 22-point win against St Mary’s Black.
Angus Hayden-Simpson and Josh Miller led Minders to a 13-point lead at half time, as Black tried to rally in the second half, but eventually went down, 52-30.
Hayden Simpson finished with 17 points for Minders, while Craig Jackson put up 10 points for St Mary’s Black.
