First blood for Casterton at home

THE 2020/21 Hamilton District Women’s Cricket Association A Grade season is looking good for the locals, with Casterton District Cricket Club taking a 56-run win over St Andrew’s in round one.

At Island Park on Friday night, the Maroons headed in to bat first, with Alyssa Humphries and Kate Tomkins taking opener duties.

Humphries set the tone, sending the first ball from the ’Drew’s Rebecca Vankalken to the boundary for four and the pair settled into an easy routine, taking the score to 21 off of just 15 balls.

At the end of 16 overs, with two retirees and just one wicket down, Casterton finished their innings at 1/126, a target that proved too difficult for the visitors.
