Lower Grades cricket

B and C grade

IN the upcoming Hamilton and District Cricket Association (HDCA) season, both B Grade and C grade have been combined for the 2022-2023 campaign.

There will be 11 teams completing for top honours.

St Andrew’s will have two sides competing for glory and will be out to defend their B and C grade titles from last season and go back-to-back in both competitions.

Tahara will be looking for revenge after losing to St Andrews in last year’s B grade decider, while Grampians will be looking to bounce back this year after a down year last year.

College will have two sides competing for glory in the B and C Grade competition and after both sides made finals last year, they will be hoping to go further into finals this year to try and bring home glory.

Hamilton North will hope to have a better year than last to try and go further into finals.

Hamilton will be hoping to bounce back after both sides last year had poor years last year and will be hoping to go deep into finals to try and bring home the glory, dropping one team and only entering one team across the B and C grade competition.

Casterton District will be out for revenge and aiming to go one better than last year after losing to C Grade premier, St Andrew’s, while Byaduk will be aiming to improve and make finals this year after missing out on the postseason games.

Branxholme will be hoping to bounce back after they missed finals, and they will be trying to get back into premiership contention.

The 2022-2023 B and C grade campaign will start on October 8.

D grade

IN the biggest competition, D grade will have 13 teams competing for glory.

Macarthur will be looking to have another strong year after finishing second in last year’s competition and just narrowly missing out on a spot in the decider.

Tarrington will enter two teams and will be hoping to go one step further and claim the premiership in season 2022-23.

Tahara will be hoping to defend its title and going back-to-back after an undefeated season last year.

Pigeon Ponds will be hoping to go further into the finals this year after losing in the semi-finals last season, while Grampians is back in D grade this season and will be striving for success.

College will be aiming to play finals this year after only missing out on finals by two games last year, along with Casterton District, which also missed finals by two games.

Coleraine is back in the HDCA and will be playing in D Grade, hoping to make a great start to the season and push to play finals.

St Andrew’s will hope to improve on last year’s performance after missing out on finals, while a second Hamilton North team joins D grade as well.

Hamilton will be aiming to improve on last year’s results along with Byaduk after both had tough campaigns last season.

The 2022-2023 D grade season starts on October 15.
