Drews and Pumas set to face-off in big Dunkeld match-up

THE HDCA D grade competition rolls on today with four games scheduled, while Tahara will have the week off with a bye.

St Andrew’s v Grampians

THE Drews will play their first game of 2024 this afternoon after sitting out last week with a bye, but Grampians awaits today in what should be a high-scoring contest.

Both teams currently sit in the top four, and with Dunkeld Hardwicket being one of the smallest grounds in the association, smart bowling and restricting boundaries will be the key to being competitive.

Mark Lazzari’s experience will be pivotal for the Puma youngsters, in a game that could go either way.

The Drews must win to guarantee they remain in the top four, with Tahara getting an automatic eight points with the bye.

Tarrington v College

THE Tigers will have home ground advantage when they host College at Tarrington Recreation Reserve.

College has one of its strongest sides of the season named, with Martin Clark, David Hintum, Tom Templeton, Tim Wilson and Matt Cameron all set to play important roles with the bat, while Roger Rook and Adam Bester will be hoping their experience can guide the Tigers to a competitive score.

Tarrington’s finals hopes are already slim, but a loss today would make the top four an even tougher proposition.

Pigeon Ponds v Coleraine

COLERAINE sits proudly on top of the ladder and will roll into Pigeon Ponds full of confidence for their clash this afternoon.

The Maroons smashed Ponds earlier in the season at home on the turf, but Ponds often find a bit extra at home and will be hoping to at least be competitive against the ladder leaders.

Andrew Colgan will be the main threat for Ponds with the ball, while Steven Boardman and Karl Dwyer have enjoyed successful periods with the ball at different times this season.

Hamilton v Hamilton North

THE two sides will face-off at Kennedy Oval with the Hammers still searching for their first win of the season.

Hamilton will be missing a few faces, due to playing in BC grade, but the home side will be hoping they can still restrict the visitors to a lower than par score.

Despite the visitors’ best efforts, the home side will go in as favourite and should collect a fourth win of the season.
