AN intense rivalry will be played out again tomorrow at Pedrina Park, as the Hamilton and District Women’s Cricket Association (HDWCA) hosts rival, Warrnambool, in the annual representative game between these two teams.
This is the third edition of the encounter and the HDWCA Hurricanes are yet to break their duck after going down for the last two seasons.
The selectors have chosen a strong squad for the game with Claire Widdicombe (Pigeon Ponds) at the helm once again as captain, and she will be crucial to the Hurricanes’ chances with her left arm swing bowling and her top order batting.
Widdicombe has at her disposal a good mix of youth and experience with which to attack the opposition, as Paige Murrell (Pigeon Ponds), Leah Drendel, Ashley Brilley, Laura Addinsall, Sophie Taylor (Macarthur), Bonnie Farrugia-Gleeson (Hamilton), Jacqui Robinson, Emily Pitts (St Andrew’s), Bonnie Jackson, Ella Jackson, Matilda Potter (Grampians), and Eloise Millard (Tarrington) all joining their skipper on the park.
The game will be played as a 30 over per team match with the bowlers restricted to a maximum of six overs each, while each batswomen can score as many runs as possible with the game starting at 11am.
