HDCA announces team to battle Horsham

THE Hamilton and District Cricket Association (HDCA) has announced its side to face Horsham in the Festival of Cricket opening game at Monivae Turf tomorrow.

The HDCA selectors have come up with a team that is in form, with reigning P.F. Christie Medallist, Luke Evans, set to make his Hurricanes debut.

Drews batsman, Darryl Fry, will captain the side, while Tyrendarra’s Hamish Withers will be his deputy.

Evans will be joined by Portland Colts teammates, James Chapple and Jak Hotchkiss.

Tyrendarra’s Sam Wilson is now a fixture at representative level and the all-rounder will be vital with both bat and ball in hand.

Portland Tigers has Paul Procter and Shanaka Silva in the side with both in great form early in the season, while former Hurricanes skipper, Mitch Lang, will return to the side after a couple of seasons playing at Koroit.

The bowlers will come from the all-rounders and Casterton District pair, Jacob Edwards and Carey Megaw, who take early wickets for the Maroons in every game, with Megaw also wielding the willow to good effect to date this summer.

Gorae-Portland leg spinner, Tom Roberts, will make his Hurricanes debut also and is an exciting addition to the team this summer.

The full team includes Darryl Fry, Hamish Withers, Sam Wilson, Luke Evans, James Chapple, Paul Procter, Jak Hotchkiss, Mitch Lang, Jacob Edwards, Carey Megaw, Shanaka Silva, and Tom Roberts.

The game starts at 10.30am and is a 50-over match.
