THE Hamilton Kangaroos will be back at Melville for the first time in nearly a month when they host Koroit in Hampden Football Netball League action tomorrow.
The Kangaroos netball team will host Koroit and will be hoping to reverse their earlier season loss to the Saints in a critical contest.
The blue and white went down to Koroit by 34 goals, but were missing about half the Open squad, due to unavailability and injury.
Today, the Kangaroos go into the rematch with most players available and will be keen to push the second-placed Saints in a much tighter contest.
The only players under a question mark are Kellie Sommerville and Leesa Iredell, after both midcourters were subbed off early last week against Port Fairy.
Hamilton will also have home court advantage, as the Kangaroos looks for their third consecutive win and start the second half of the season with a win against a top five team.
The Hamilton Kangaroos football team are also set for a tough day at the office, hosting ladder leader, Koroit, at Melville Oval today.
The Kangaroos went down to the Saints by 90 points in round one, and will be hoping to improve on that effort this afternoon.
Going into the clash off the back of three consecutive wins, the blue and white has made two changes with Zac Burgess and Deacon White going back to Under-18s, while Luke Uebergang and Taine Morris return to the side.
Hugh Douglas is also pushing close to a senior recall following a few games in reserves after his knee injury.
Kangaroos coach, Hamish Waldron said he expects an improvement from the side, compared to the result in the opening round.
“Just hope we’d improve on the last time we played them,” he said.
“Hopefully the boys have built a bit of confidence over the past few weeks.”
With Uebergang set to add another option up forward and Taine Morris adding height in defence, the Kangaroos go into the clash with one of their more experienced sides for the year.
Waldron said the two 2022 senior debutants needed a chance to freshen up to attack the second half of the season.
“Burgess went back to Under-18s and Deacon White was always one who would come up and play a couple of games then go back,” he said.
“I am just trying to manage their loads, Burgo has been up since the start of the year.
“They will both come back up and play more senior footy though.”
With the Saints chasing their ninth win of the season, Waldron expects the game to be decided in the midfield.
“I just hope we can beat them or match them in the middle,” he said.
“They are just so hard to score against, they have got some good key forwards as well.”
It will be a big test for the home side, and the Kangaroos will need to be at their best if they are to stretch their winning streak to four games.
