Boomers’ new look unveiled

THE Hamilton Boomers will look a little different during their clash against the South Warrnambool Hurricanes, with the locals set to debut a new guernsey for today's Football Integration Development Association (FIDA) clash.

The new look was unveiled on Thursday with the team set to wear an indigenous guernsey for their future games.

Boomers co-captain, Daniel Whennen said he was excited to wear the new design.

“It is really good to have an aboriginal top, better than the old one,” he said.

“We are all happy and we are all enjoying it.

“We wear it for the first time this weekend and hopefully many more.”

The Boomers have had a strong season to date, but Whennen said it was not just about wins and losses.

“We are just out there for the fun of it,” he said.

The second-placed Boomers go into the round four clash with one blemish to their name, an opening round loss to the Hurricanes.

South Warrnambool is undefeated in top spot and will be favourites to continue the winning streak for another week.

Boomers coach, Graham Byrne said getting the new guernseys would give the group a lift ahead of the match-up.

“It has taken 18 months to get it all organised, the sponsors have been terrific and they had no hesitation,” he said.

“It is a special little outfit and it looks nice.

“The Hurricanes have come out of the woodwork a little bit.

“Everyone has really taken to the Boomers, what we put in we get out of it.”

The match will get underway at 11am on Sunday at Friendly Societies Park.
