Dunkeld debut for Roos

THE Hamilton Kangaroos will enter unfamiliar environment today, hosting Koroit at Dunkeld Recreation Reserve in the first home game since moving from Melville Oval.

It is the first of two home games the club will play in Dunkeld for the remainder of 2023, while the club will also be likely to play home games away from Melville Oval next year while the redevelopment works continue.

The Saints are eyeing off a win to retain second spot on the ladder, while the Kangaroos have had a season to forget, but many of the youngsters have taken their game to a new level and will be hoping to continue that form this afternoon.

The blue and white are also going into the round 16 clash after sitting out last weekend, due to the split round, giving players a chance to freshen up for the final three games of the season.

It won’t be an easy game for the home side, but will be hoping for a four-quarter effort against one of the league’s benchmark teams this year.

THE Kangaroos’ Open team will be desperate to win to keep their finals hopes alive, sitting a game outside the top five.

The side started the season in raging form, but unavailability and injuries have curtailed the momentum.

It has been a strong 2023 campaign for some of the younger players though, with Madsie Phillips in particular taking her game to a new level.

With Koroit needing a win to stay inside the top three, motivation won’t be lacking for the visitors, setting up an enthralling contest at Dunkeld.
