Rebels fall in final

THE Greater Western Victoria Rebels fell just short of the ultimate prize in the V/Line Cup, falling to Geelong Falcons by 12 points in the Under-15 Boys Division 2 grand final on Wednesday.

A three-goal opening term at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium had the Rebels in the lead early, before a five-goal term from the Falcons saw Geelong go into half time leading by 15 points.

The Rebels tried to close the gap, but fell short, going down 8.5 (53) to 10.5 (65).

Hamilton Kangaroos’ Bailey Clarke was named best on ground in the clash.

Dartmoor’s Brody Pratt hit the scoreboard with a goal for the Rebels in the final.

The Rebels also lost the Under-15 Boys Division 1 clash to the Falcons, 5.3 (33) to 6.7 (43).

Continuing the strong outing from the Rebels, the team also made the Under-15 Girls grand final but couldn’t get over the line against the Geelong Falcons, losing 1.5 (11) to 3.6 (24).

Ruby Cleaver was a standout for the Rebels in the final, named among the team’s best players.
