Big wins in GSWJFL contests

ROUND six of the Greater South West Junior Football League saw Cavendish and Heathmere play out a thriller in the Under-17 division, with the Bloods just getting over the line 5.6 (36) to 4.10 (34).

Heathmere led by 16 points at three-quarter time but Cavendish produced a big last term to clinch the win.

Better players for the Meres were Patrick McGennisken and Sam Shelton.

In the other Under-17 game top side Coleraine was way too good for Hamilton, winning 18.21 (129) to 2.3 (15).

In the Under-14 competition the pick of the games saw Tyrendarra win 5.10 (40) to Heywood’s 3.8 (26) to maintain second place on the ladder.

The Darras only broke away in the last term, kicking 2.2 to no score.

Best players for Tyrendarra were Luke Hannig and Ashton Campbell (two goals), while Jett Lovell and Owen Anderson (two goals) were among Heywood’s best.

Heathmere scored a 6.13 (49) to 2.0 (12) win over Cavendish, with Artie Harvey best afield and Elliot Munday booting three goals, while in the other games Hamilton Orange was too good for Portland Tigers 15.11 (101) to 0.1 (1) and Hamilton Blue easily accounted for Coleraine 8.12 (60) to 0.3 (3).
