THE Hamilton Kangaroos will be out to get back on the winners list when they travel to Reid Oval to face-off against Warrnambool today.
The Roos will welcome back Madsie Phillips, who missed last week with an ankle injury, while Hayley Sherlock will be back as well, strengthening the attacking end for the visitors.
Kangaroos co-coach, Emma Sommerville said it was exciting to have the full squad back together for what will be an important clash for both sides.
Feeling pretty good, everyone is in
“It feels like we haven’t had the full squad available very often for a while,” she said.
“The next four games, consistency is crucial for us.”
The blue and white got the points against the Blues in round six by five goals, and will be hoping to repeat the result down in Warrnambool this afternoon.
Sommerville said the team had been working hard at training with some key areas the focus ahead of the round 15 match-up.
“There are certain things we know we want to focus on after last time,” she said.
“Our attacking intensity, and there are other things as a team we have got much stronger on since we last played them.
“We have got a lot of depth, we have nine solid players and so it has been a bit of a blessing with Emma being away and a few injuries, so it is tricky for us with our starting line-up.”
The visitors will take a holistic approach to the game, working on processes, rather than focusing on specific opposition players, and with finals approaching, the fifth against sixth clash could shape the top five with only three games to follow.
“It is definitely something in the back of our mind, but we have just said we are going to take it each week and really focus on the task at hand,” Sommerville said.
The fifth-placed Kangaroos go into the clash two points clear of the Blues, meaning the winner will finish the round inside the top five.
HAMILTON Kangaroos will be seeking redemption for its loss last weekend, when the side plays at the Reid Oval for the second successive match today, facing off against Warrnambool.
The Roos were thoroughly outplayed by ladder leader, South Warrnambool, last round going down by 136 points, but with that experience of playing on the ground the players will use what they learnt to their advantage against the Blues.
Taine Morris, Charlie Alexander, Cameron Whyte, Darcy Russell and Angus Kissel were the best players in a well beaten side and the form that Morris has shown in the last month has been outstanding, working hard at centre half-back.
The Roos have had Brad Thomas play the last four games and his class has shone through in every game, as he displays his silky skills and game awareness learned over his career.
The team was able to get its running game going in the second half last Saturday and having learnt how to play the Reid Oval they will be better prepared for today’s clash.
