THE Hamilton Kangaroos will have home ground advantage for the last time today when they host Camperdown at Dunkeld Recreation Reserve.
The Hampden Football Netball League round 17 clash will be all or nothing for the visitors, who sit two wins out of the top five and must win today to keep their finals hopes alive.
For the Kangaroos, it is simply playing for pride and building momentum into 2024, and with plenty of options up forward, Kangaroos coach, Hamish Waldron said the team will play a similar style to last week against Koroit.
“We will play much the same as we did, it is a big ground and suited us,” he said.
“If it is wet, hopefully we can adapt and play some surge footy if needed.
“Their ground is much the same as Dunkeld, so they will play it well.
“But our footy was good enough down there to beat them, so hopefully we can do it again.”
The Roos have five inclusions for the clash with Mick McMeel back in, alongside Angus Kissel, Luke Uebergang and Charlie Alexander.
Charlie Field will also get a senior debut after an impressive run of form in the Under-18.5 games.
Jack Hickey and Hugh Douglas are the two outs.
Waldron said adding some run was important to drive scoring chains and transition.
“It is a big ground, I want some young run and strong legs that can run all day,” he said.
“If we can put a four-quarter effort in, then we should be good enough.”
Netball
THE Kangaroos will take to the court desperately needing a win when they face the Magpies.
Warrnambool sits fifth, a game clear of Hamilton, but plays teams above them in the remaining two games of the season, giving the blue and white a sniff of finals action.
The combinations are improving week on week and the home side will go in as favourite against the eighth-placed Magpies, who have won just two games for the season.
