HAMILTON Kangaroos senior footballers have suffered another loss in round 17 of the Hampden Football Netball League against Camperdown at Dunkeld Recreation Reserve, 8.6 (54 ) – 20.13 (133).
Playing at Dunkeld Recreation Reserve for the last time this season, the Roos were looking to record a win against the Magpies to round out its home games, but despite winning the first term, the home team was swamped by the visitors from the second term onwards.
When the siren sounded for the end of the first quarter, Kangaroos held a two-point lead and had shown glimpses of the form required at this level.
Camperdown must have been given a stern talking to by the coaching staff in the huddle, as the side returned to the field looking to attack at all costs and the ball continually moved into its forward 50.
The Magpies banged home nine majors for the quarter to move well clear of the home side, which only managed a single goal in reply, as the visitors opened a 47-point lead at the long break.
The Kangaroos needed to make a statement when they returned to the field for the third term, and by restricting the Magpies to only one goal, it made them earn the ball all quarter long.
The final term saw Camperdown draw away again with eight more goals added to make the final margin much larger, despite four goals from the blue and white.
Mick McMeel, Hamish Cook, Cameron Pither, Harry McGinley, Charlie Alexander and Will Povey were the best players for the Roos, with Cook the only multiple goal kicker for the home side with two, while Harry Sumner, Cameron Spence, Riley Arnold, Hamish Sinnott, Angus Gordon and Myles Sinnott took the honours for the visitors.
